No versions of Solidworks, including 2014, are compatible with IE 11 that windows update will try to install. On SW startup, it will give continual script errors and the app will need to be stopped using task manager. If IE 11 has been installed go to control panel>programs>view installed updates find IE11 and uninstall. restart and all should work again.

I have this problem with other software (Rockwell Automation) It has to do with them totally hosing something up in SQL. Best advice, dont touch it lol

Solidworks fixed the IE11 issue... long ago but for some reason I'm still running IE9. Probably should upgrade that. Now I'm onto my word and excel 2007 is no longer supported, but office 2016, which is the current version I can buy isn't supported. Makes me appreciate Rhino.
